A Photo Every Once-In-A-While: Episode XVIII

I didn't realise this before. I live within a block of the best sushi in Vancouver! What are the odds? I'm so lucky! I haven't had the chance to eat here yet, but since its the best, I suppose I have to!

Seriously though, regarding places I have to eat at: there is a restaurant called "The Mac Shack" a few blocks from my place, and all they have on their menu is variations on mac & cheese. It always surprises me how many people dismiss mac and cheese because all they've ever had is KD. I am of the opinion that mac and cheese is the worlds simplest recipe. The only ingredients involved are right there in the name! Even a BLT forgets to mention "bread" in it's name.

If you have never had REAL mac and cheese, go try this recipe. (serves 4-6 ... I tend to halve the recipe for myself)

4 cups macaroni
1 medium onion (diced)
2 tsp ground ginger
~2 cups grated cheese (add more or less as you see fit)
~1.5 cups cubed ham
1 chilli pepper (cut into small bits ... optional)

Cook the macaroni noodles al dente style.

In a greased pan, fry together the onion, ham, ginger and chilli pepper. Mix in the noodles and cheese. Wait for the cheese to melt. Enjoy. If you happen to be vegetarian, Muslim, or Jewish, I'm sure it tastes just as good without the ham
